Greg spent much of the decade of the 1990’s in the US Navy, where he served as a hospital corpsman and field medical service technician. His deployments extended to the Middle East, as an assistant to two marine regiment battalion surgeons and embedded on occasion with scout sniper platoons.

 

Upon separation from military service, Greg attended Seton Hill University, graduating with a BS in Physician Assistant Studies. He was subsequently employed at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Division of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care (2002-2011) and Palmetto Health Richland Department of Emergency Medicine (2011-2016). In 2016, Greg returned to the Trauma Service as the Chief Advanced Practice Provider. His hyperbaric medicine practice began in 2004, upon completion of Primary Training in Hyperbaric Medicine. He currently serves as faculty on the NBS Primary Training in Hyperbaric Medicine course presenting on the management of decompression sickness and during the 2016 NBS Advanced Hyperbaric Medicine symposium Greg presented on The Hyperbaric Physician and the Public Safety Dive Team. For much of the past decade Greg has been integral member of the Palmetto Health Richland Hospital hyperbaric medicine service. He avails himself as a case management provider on behalf of wide-ranging elective conditions and all-important emergency referrals, covering 24/7 night call in the process.

 

Greg is a widely admired and respected subject matter expert within the realm of public safety diving, both as a diver and as a medical resource. He donates countless hours to the safety and well-being of state and local law enforcement diving operations. His medical and operational teaching updates are ongoing and he is a ready on-scene presence during training and operational call-outs. He serves as a tactical physician assistant/reserve deputy sheriff within the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, and an SRT-Sniper/Observation Team member.  Greg is certified in ACLS, PALS and ATLS. Since 2012 he has served as an independent technical consultant on behalf of the Asymmetric Combat Institute, a unique program designed to provide advanced medical skills sustainment in austere medical environments on behalf of special forces personnel.
